Bedtime Habits to Put Back Pain to Rest

The day may be over, but that doesn’t mean you should stop taking steps to reduce your back pain. Regularly getting a good night’s sleep is a crucial part of treating chronic back pain. Proper sleeping habits and routines can make a big difference in how well your body heals following an injury, so our team at Witney chiropractic clinic have the following tips:

  • If you sleep on your side, put a pillow between your knees to help keep your hips level.
  • If you sleep on your back, place a pillow beneath your knees to help remove pressure from your lumbar spine.
  • Try to avoid sleeping on your stomach if you can. This position can cause your spine to become hyper extended.

The way you wake up in the morning is also important. Sitting up too quickly and jumping straight out of bed can put strain on your entire body. Before you get up, do some light stretches to help your muscles to get going after hours of inactivity.

Sleep well. Be well.
