Modern life is full of technological advancements and one of the biggest of the lot is mobile technology. The chances are high we are always with our mobile phone and everywhere you go you see people on their devices.
Whilst we get a lot of benefits from using our devices, usage does come with downsides.
As a busy chiropractor in Witney I come across many cases of back, neck and shoulder pain caused by poor posture. Poor posture while texting can lead to neck, shoulder and back pain.
In my role at the Witney Chiropractic clinic I offer advice to clients on avoiding stress in those areas;
- Sit upright with your head directly over your body – Your head is heavy and letting it drop too much can cause a lot of strain on your neck and back
- Avoid using your phone for long periods of time – Move around, loosen up and give your body a break every 40 minutes or so
- Make sure you keep stretching and keep loose
- Avoid hunching over your phone – Poor posture leads to back pain, maintain a good posture whilst texting to avoid this.
Back pain can have serious effects on the quality of your life and with mobile devices playing an increasingly bigger part in day to day life it is important you consider the tips above.
