We love a Christmas dinner here at Witney Chiropractic Clinic. But we don’t love the effects that spending hours standing in the kitchen can have on the spine! So we’ve jotted down a few top tips to keep your spine safe as you rustle up your festive roast this year:
1: Plan Ahead
Instead of attempting to tackle everything at once, prepare some of your dishes in advance. This will reduce the amount of time you need to spend standing in the kitchen. If you have guests for lunch, ask them to bring a dish too! The more hands on deck, the less strain on your spine!
2: Keep Moving
Being in one position for too long is a major culprit for back pain, so make sure you keep changing positions and stretching those legs!
3: Use your Worktop
To reduce pressure on your spine when cooking, try leaning on your worktop for 10-15 seconds at a time.
Here’s to a pain-free Christmas lunch!
