With Mother’s Day approaching fast our chiropractor at Witney Chiropractic Clinic wants to make sure that all mums take good care of their backs.
Being a mum comes with a lot of day to day pressure, both mentally and physically. Here are our best pieces of advice for keeping your back safe:
- There are more reasons to get fitter than simply to look good. Getting fitter, increasing your muscle tone and developing your core strength can protect you from injuries. You can get advice from a chiropractor, GP or other healthcare provider on exercises to help you.
- Incorporate stretching into your daily routine to help keep your back in line. Shoulder shrugs are a simple activity you can start with.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time is not good for your back or your overall health. If you do sit for long periods of time make sure you regularly stand up and walk around. This could be a great time to incorporate some simple stretches!
- When you are sitting make sure the chair is taking your weight and that as much of your body is in contact with the chair so that your whole body is supported. Remember your knees should be lower than your hips.
