When it comes to your children’s health, you want to protect it at all costs. Here at Witney Chiropractic Clinic, we are treating more and more children and teenagers for back and neck pain – and homework (or how it’s carried out) is a common culprit.
While the media is full of warnings about carrying heavy backpacks, spending too much time on Smartphones and poor posture, your children’s homework habits – and how they can potentially cause back problems – are rarely mentioned.
So we are sharing three simple tips to help you help your child to maintain good back health as they embark on out of hours school work:
1: Make sure your child has a suitable desk/ workstation to study at. This should include a chair that provides ample back support.
2: Remind your child to take breaks away from studying every 20 – 30 minutes and encourage them to walk around during these breaks.
3: Ensure that your child drinks plenty of water during study periods. Dehydration is a common cause of inflammation which can lead to painful back problems.
This simple advice could just protect your child from developing poor spine health.
